Stop burning dirty coal now – FREE leaflets
First the good news: We no longer need our dirty coal-fired power plants to keep our lights on. Our coal-free generation capacity is now 28% greater than our forecast peak demand for electricity this summer.
And now the bad news: Ontario Power Generation (OPG) continues to operate its gigantic Nanticoke coal plant to export electricity to the U.S. They get cheap power, we get smog. Some deal!
According to Ontario government calculations (see endnote 5), OPG’s coal-fired generation caused up to 158,000 asthma attacks last year and 316 deaths.
We need your help to stop OPG’s dirty coal-fired electricity exports. Please order free copies of our new pamphlet, Dirty Coal-Fired Electricity Exports Are Costing Us The Air We Breathe, and distribute them to your friends, neighbours and co-workers. They contain postcards to mail to Premier McGuinty and MPPs Tim Hudak and Andrea Horwath.
Working together we can phase-out dirty coal now!
Thanks for your help getting the word out by ordering/distributing our leaflets. They’re free, smart, beautiful and effective!
