Fact Sheet #20 - High-cost energy: The economics of nuclear power

In December 2005, the Ontario Power Authority released a report that outlined its proposed blueprint for meeting Ontario’s electricity needs to 2025. The report included an analysis of the costs of obtaining additional electricity supplies from: i) a new CANDU 6 nuclear reactor; and ii) a new natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant. This factsheet outlines how the OPA's analysis is skewed in favour of high-cost nuclear power.
