It promises to be hot in Holland Landing on Thursday, no matter what the weather brings.  A local citizens group, MegaWHAT? is organizing a community meeting to discuss Energy Minister Gerry Phillips’ proposal to spend a quarter of a billion dollars to build a power plant in Northern York Region which will have an energy efficiency of only 36%.

Guest Speakers will be:

Peter Tabuns, MPP Toronto-Danforth and NDP Energy Critic, on his private member’s Bill 79 to stop the power plant and promote smart power;

Dr. Peter Strawbridge, York Region Physician, on the health impacts of the power plant;

Jack Gibbons, Ontario Clean Air Alliance, on better alternatives; and

Harvey Tenenbaum, Energy Industry Watchdog, on what’s really up with the Ontario Power Authority.
