Green groups say Hydro Quebec could make $473 million a year by saving energy
 

MONTREAL _ Hydro-Quebec could increase its profits by $473 million with a better energy efficiency policy.

That´s according to a coalition of Ontario and Quebec green groups.

The Ontario Clean Air Alliance and Quebec-based Equiterre made their case at a news conference today in Montreal.

They said the Quebec power utility could easily consume less energy, and export what it´s saved at a huge profit.

They say the Quebec and Ontario grids should be better co-ordinated, and describe energy efficiency as a virtual goldmine.
