PeakBusters are making a difference!

peaksaver® proved its worth this summer, when temperatures finally reached true seasonal highs in early August. In fact, on August 17th, 132,500 customers who had enrolled in peaksaver helped the province handle the spike in electricity demand that occurred as the weather finally got hot and muggy. The participation of these customers saved 116 megawatts of electricity, the equivalent of taking the entire City of Kingston off the electricity grid during this peak demand period. If you were one of those customers, you probably didn’t even notice that your air conditioner output was temporarily reduced, but you made a big difference.

But we’ve really only scratched the surface of what peaksaver can do. Right now, less than 7% of eligible homes in Ontario have enrolled in peaksaver. If you have central air conditioning and haven’t enrolled in peaksaver – or if you know friends and family who haven’t – now is the time to act. By enrolling in peaksaver (and tell your friends to do the same for even more chances to win) you will be eligible to win great prizes in our PeakBusters contest. Prizes to be won include: $200 gift card for Future Shop, Indigo Books and Music, lululemon or Mountain Equipment Co-op.

Hurry! The last draw is September 30th. Contact your local electric utility today to enroll in peaksaver.

If you’ve already enrolled in peaksaver, you are already eligible to enter. If you don’t have central air conditioning or live in an apartment or condo, you can still enter by telling us what other energy saving actions you’re taking.

Thanks to our great contest sponsors:

Thank you.
