Should Canada subsidize Ontario’s nuclear reactors?

The federal government has sunk tens of billions of dollars into the development of nuclear technology. It also generously underwrites the nuclear industry’s accident liability and continues to spend millions on trying to come up with radioactive waste storage solutions. Is this really the best use of taxpayers’ dollars?

We asked the leaders of our federal political parties the following question:
Do you believe that the Government of Canada should subsidize the construction of new nuclear reactors in Ontario?

The Conservative Party did not respond.

The answers from the other parties were:

NDP and Green Party: No

Liberal Party: Undecided

When Liberal and Conservative candidates ask for your support, please ask them if they believe that the Government of Canada should subsidize the construction of new nuclear reactors in Ontario. Tell them their parties need to be on-the-record on this issue.
