St. Paul’s by-election & taxpayer subsidies for nukes
The NDP and Green Party candidates in the St. Paul’s provincial by-election are opposed to federal taxpayer subsidies for the construction of two new nuclear reactors at the Darlington Nuclear Station, according to their responses to an Ontario Clean Air Alliance survey.
The Liberal candidate, Dr. Eric Hoskins, while not directly indicating if he supported or opposed subsidies, said: “Any infrastructure investment made by the federal government in Ontario is welcomed by Ontario’s government. Any party that is opposed to the jobs created and the economic stimulus associated therein does not have the best interests of Ontario at heart.”
The Progressive Conservative candidate, Sue-Ann Levy, did not respond to our questionnaire despite our repeated requests for her position.
