Kitchener-Waterloo NDP candidate Catherine Fife tells us she will need to assess “the business case” for the proposed Darlington Re-Build project and would subject such projects to a full environmental assessment. But so far, she has not agreed to sign our Electricity Consumer Protection Pledge to make it clear that her party will not allow Ontario Power Generation to pass cost overruns from its proposed Darlington Re-Build Project on to Ontario’s working families.
The Government of Ontario has signed more than 12,000 contracts with wind, solar, biomass, water and natural gas-fired electricity suppliers. None of these suppliers are allowed to pass their cost overruns on to you and me. Only nuclear projects get to stick us with their cost overruns. It’s time for Catherine Fife and the NDP to support the campaign to end these sweetheart deals.
Please click here to send Catherine Fife a message asking her to sign the Electricity Consumer Protection Pledge today.
P.S. Watch GPO candidate signing the pledge here, and our new 30 second by-election commercial. And if you’re anywhere near K-W, please help us distribute our K-W by-election pamphlet. Contact me for more details. And the rest of you, please sign our petition to end nuclear cost overruns.
