The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) knows there is a serious problem with a huge disconnect between what computer models say is happening with pressure tubes inside aging CANDU reactors, and what real world examinations are telling us about the state of these tubes.

A pressure tube rupture could lead to a radioactive release or even a fuel meltdown, yet instead of taking precautionary steps while it tries to get to the root of the problem (for which it still has no defensible explanation), the CNSC is focused on finding reasons to allow reactors to continue operating.

The CNSC is far too cozy with the nuclear industry, and far too focused on protecting their interests rather than the safety of Canadians.

Please tell the CNSC’s boss, Natural Resources Minister Jonathan Wilkinson, that he needs to step in and order the CNSC to take proper precautionary measures to protect our safety.
