Tell Premier Ford you support making a money-saving deal with Quebec

Quebec has offered to supply Ontario with clean renewable energy at a cost of just 5 cents per kilowatt hour for the next 20 years.  That is less than one-third of Ontario Power Generation’s projected price for power from rebuilt reactors at the Darlington Nuclear Station: 16.5 cents per kWh. And with inevitable cost overruns, it will climb even higher.

Already, the first stage of the Darlington project is vastly over budget.  Of course, no nuclear project in Ontario’s history has ever been finished on time or on budget.

Meanwhile, Quebec is guaranteeing power year-round at an incredibly attractive price.  In January, 2018 Quebec Hydro signed a deal to supply Massachusetts with enough power to serve one million homes at a price of 3 to 5.3 cents per kWh.  And it repeated that it would be happy to make a similar deal with Ontario. By taking Quebec up on its offer, we could reduce our electricity costs by more than $12 billion over the next 20 years.
