Last week, the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) confirmed that it is still developing plans for the potential construction of the East Toronto Transmission Line through Markham, Scarborough, Leaside and Riverdale.

A local grassroots community group, Transforming Toronto, has been formed to oppose the East Toronto Transmission Line and to persuade the Government of Ontario to direct the OPA to meet downtown Toronto’s electricity needs by a combination of energy conservation and small-scale local generation.  Their next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 11th at 7 p.m., so if you agree that the OPA is on the wrong track come out to the meeting to find out how you can help.
