Molson Canada doesn’t support AMPCO — does Suncor?

Ontario’s (AMPCO) recommendation that Premier McGuinty should break his promise to phase-out our dirty coal-fired power plants by 2009, Molson Canada has written to the OCAA to state that “AMPCO does not represent the views of Molson. Like the Ontario Clean Air Alliance, we too support the path to a cleaner and safer environment.”

The company further points out that it is “constantly striving to improve our conservation efforts” and as a result has “reduced our consumption of fuel by 13%, electricity by 11% and, water by 19% in the past 4 years.”

We’d like to congratulate the people at Molson Canada on their efforts to improve efficiency.  These sorts of initiatives are exactly what we need to help Ontario achieve its ground-breaking coal phase-out.

With this in mind, we’d now like to ask you to contact Suncor Energy (owners of Sunoco gas stations and also an AMPCO member) and ask them the same question you put to Molson Canada.  Does your company want Premier McGuinty to break his promise to phase-out our coal-fired power plants by 2009, as AMPCO has recommended?  You can contact Suncor’s CEO Rick George at  And please send us a copy of your email.

For all of you that wrote to Molson Canada – Thank you!

Please pass this message on to your friends.

Thank you
