Millions of radioactive fuel rods are currently stored in commercial storage buildings on the shores of the Great Lakes. This is a completely inadequate storage solution for highly dangerous waste.

We need to tell the government that it is time to order Ontario Power Generation (OPG) to construct proper interim storage facilities – above-ground, attack resistant, reinforced concrete vaults away from the shorelines – like those that are used in Germany.

Saving OPG money at the expense of leaving highly radioactive waste sitting on our shorelines – next to the source of drinking water for millions – is a false bargain.

Please send Premier Ford, Energy Minister Todd Smith and your MPP a message telling them that they need to order OPG (fully owned by the Government of Ontario) to step up and create a much safer solution for storing these wastes.
