We need a unbiased, forward-looking, least-cost plan from the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) for how to decarbonize Ontario’s electricity system and ensure the future health of our economy and our communities.

Instead, all signs are that the IESO is once again intent on producing a report to defend the status quo of keeping gas-plants running and ignoring green solutions, like aggressive energy efficiency efforts and cooperation with our green power rich neighbours in Quebec.

Please tell Energy Minister Todd Smith and your MPP that you expect better than the IESO’s first highly misleading and error-riddled effort to address the need to get rid of fossil gas. It is time for a least-cost plan that will put this province on the road to effective climate action – before it’s too late.
