This report looks at the potential to build a large new solar farm on the site owned by Ontario Power Generation in Port Hope, on the shores of Lake Ontario.

It finds that 634 acres (2.56 km2) of the site could be used for grid-scale solar with a capacity of up to 83 MW and 106 GWh of annual electricity generation, enough power to supply 11,770 homes. This project could be built in a fraction of the time it would take to build a gigantic nuclear station on the site, which is OPG’s current plan.
