In 2023, Ontario increased by 26% its burning of polluting fossil gas for electricity generation.

Ontario is moving in completely the wrong direction on climate and our clean air. While the world grapples with phasing out climate-damaging emissions, and industry is expecting a green grid, Ontario is pressing hard on the accelerator, creating more devastating gas emissions.

Opposition Party leaders need to take leadership and make a clear commitment to reverse this troubling trend. We need to triple low-cost solar and wind capacity in Ontario – in line with federal commitments made at COP 28.
