This report looks at the future of a large power generation site owned by Ontario Power Generation in the municipality of Port Hope.

It compares the costs and outcomes of using this site to build a gigantic nuclear plant with renewables: on- and offshore wind and on-site solar power.

Our report finds that wind and solar power could provide the same amount of power as the world’s largest nuclear station while saving us $6.2 to $19.3 billion per year in electricity costs.

In addition to massive cost savings, the report shows that renewable energy solutions will be much more effective in delivering greenhouse gas reductions in the necessary time frame to meet international climate goals.
