Mayor Chow and Toronto City Council need to take a lesson from the actions of former Mississauga Mayor Hazel McCallion who fought to close a polluting coal plant on her city’s waterfront and won!

We need Toronto to develop a plan to close the polluting Portlands gas plant on this city’s waterfront.

If the Ford Government isn’t going to act for decades to come to close this major polluter, Toronto needs to seize the reins and develop its own plans to close the city’s No. 1 air polluter.

Council should direct city-owned Toronto Hydro to develop a plan to meet our electricity needs with renewable power, energy efficiency and storage instead of burning fossil fuels.
