The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) says it won’t examine possible alternatives to building the world’s largest nuclear station in Port Hope, Ont., because the project proponent – Ontario Power Generation – says there aren’t any.
This is obviously nonsense as the slightest bit of research would show, yet the federal agency can’t be bothered to question it. The result will be a sham of an assessment that leads Ontario toward spectacularly higher electricity bills and further delay on climate action.
Send a message to Prime Minister Carney, Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin, and your MP. Ask them to direct the IAAC to examine the potential for wind, water and solar power to meet our electricity needs at a lower cost than OPG’s proposed Port Hope nuclear station. >>
