Tell Minister Lecce to Release the True Cost of the Bruce Nuclear Refurbishment Project
While Minister Lecce claims Ontario’s nuclear refurbishment projects are being completed “ahead of schedule and under budget,” the public record raises serious questions.
The Darlington Nuclear Refurbishment Project is significantly over budget, and it appears that Bruce Power’s Unit 3 refurbishment was completed roughly on schedule, not seven months ahead of schedule as claimed.
What Ontarians still don‘t know is:
• The latest estimate of the total cost of the Bruce Nuclear Refurbishment Project.
• The original budget and final cost of refurbishing Bruce Power’s Unit 3 reactor.
• The latest estimate of Bruce Power’s average electricity price over the remaining life of its contract.
Bruce Power’s electricity already costs 36% more than new wind and solar power.
