There is enough energy blowing across the Great Lakes to supply all of Ontario’s electricity needs. It is time to lift the outdated moratorium on offshore wind power and tap into this renewable resource. Offshore wind can be developed in an environmentally responsible manner and can supply power at almost half the cost of new nuclear reactors – and will take a fraction of the time to build.
There is no reason for Ontario to continue delaying offshore wind development in the four Great Lakes it borders. This report explains why now is the time to tap into the stronger, more consistent winds that blow across the lakes.
