The Ford Government appears to be backtracking on promises to finally get back to building solar and wind projects in Ontario. Instead of focusing on low cost and climate friendly renewable energy in its upcoming power procurement, the government is now saying it will also accept bids for new polluting gas and high-risk nuclear projects. After six years of inaction on joining the rest of the world in rapidly growing solar and wind energy, Ontario is once again hedging its bets on proven, low-cost, climate friendly energy. That will leave us paying higher bills and lead to more climate damage.
Tell Energy Minister Stephen Lecce and your MPP that Ontario needs to make a firm commitment to getting back in the game on solar and wind.
