Enbridge Gas is proposing to build a giant pipeline through Hamilton, including through an ecologically important wetland, to increase imports of fracked gas from the United States into Ontario.  This pipeline is designed to allow a huge increase in use of polluting gas-fired generating plants in Ontario with an increase in greenhouse gas emissions of more than 300% by 2025.  This is above and beyond the major climate impact of producing fracked gas

Sign the petition to stop the pipeline

There is no need for this pipeline. Ontario can keep its lights on without increasing its greenhouse gas pollution by expanding its energy efficiency programs and by contracting for low-cost water power from Quebec

691 Judith Lee Perth Feb 07, 2020 The plan by Enbridge Gas to build a huge gas pipeline through a provincially significant wetland in Hamilton must be stopped. This pipeline will be used to import fracked gas into Ontario in order to increase the output of our polluting gas-fired power plants by up to 400%. This will be damaging to our climate and is unnecessary. By expanding cost effective energy conservation programs and importing low-cost water power from Quebec, Ontario can keep the lights on without increasing its greenhouse gas pollution. Please order Enbridge to invest in energy efficiency rather than a destructive pipeline. The time is now for "doing energy differently" -- Can we count on you to start doing what is called for to stop further fossil madness and ensure a healthy future for our children and their children... which is not at all ensured if this plan continues! Thanks Judith Fox
