Toronto CIty Council wants to invest in local renewable energy to lower our electricity bills and phase-out the Portlands gas plant on our waterfront.
Unfortunately, the Doug Ford Government is ramping up the use of dirty gas-fired electricity to keep our lights on – from 4% or our supply in 2017 to 19.3% in 2025.
In addition, Doug Ford and Mark Carney want to build high-cost, slow to deploy U.S. nuclear reactors to meet our future electricity needs.
We are going in the wrong direction.
Wind and solar energy can keep our lights on at less than one-third the cost of new nuclear reactors.
By investing in low-cost renewable energy, instead of high-cost nuclear reactors, we can lower the electricity bills of ALL Ontario electricity consumers and phase-out the Portlands gas plant.
Send a message to Prime Minister Carney, Environment Minister Julie Dabrusin, Premier Ford, your M.P. and M.P.P. Tell them you want the federal and provincial governments to provide funding for rooftop and large parking lot solar, and Lake Ontario wind power, to lower our electricity bills and create good jobs. >>
