Toronto deserves a modern, efficient and non-polluting electricity system, but the Independent Electricity System Operator has other plans for the city. Under it’s plan, the polluting Portlands gas plant will be kept running for decades while we wait for costly, cumbersome new nuclear reactors to meet the city’s growing electricity needs.

This report lays out how City Council can take back control of Toronto’s energy future and work to develop an efficient, low cost and renewable system that phases out the Portlands gas plant, lowers our electricity bills, and reduces our dependence on American energy imports.
