Ontario’s Independent Electricity System Operator’s plan for Toronto’s electricity future is a strike out:
– It fails to act on City Council’s clear direction to ensure the phase-out of the polluting Portlands Gas Plant by 2035;
– It will make Toronto (and Ontario) more reliant on American nuclear technology and imported American enriched uranium and gas, while increasing electricity costs; and
– It ignores revolutionary changes in renewable power and storage systems now sweeping the world.
These 26 groups have called on Toronto to ditch the province’s dirty energy plan.
