According to the IPCC, we need to reduce our greenhouse gas pollution by almost 50% by 2030 to keep temperatures from rising by more than 1.5 degrees C.

That’s why it is critical we get Ontario on track to a renewable energy future. Right now, the Ford Government is planning to ramp up the pollution from our gas plants by 700% and spend billions on new gas plants as well as GE-Hitachi’s experimental BWRX-300 nuclear reactor that has never been built anywhere in the world. At the same time it is refusing to look at already viable solutions like rooftop solar or offshore wind. It wants to build EVs but won’t do anything to get them on the road in Ontario or make them part of a power storage solution. And the list goes on.

This is going to cost the people of Ontario dearly in terms of climate damage, worsening air quality, and missing out on huge new economic opportunities.

It doesn’t have to be this way. All around the world, countries, cities and states are proving that we can transition rapidly to green energy solutions and slash climate damaging emissions.

But we’re not giving up. With your help, we are going to continue to campaign for smarter solutions – like energy efficiency, Great Lakes wind power, bidirectional EV charging, distributed solar, and using Hydro Quebec’s reservoirs to convert our wind and solar energy into a firm 24/7 source of baseload electricity for Ontario.

Because they know that this is the right answer for the people of Ontario, two very generous donors have offered to match every donation we receive in the next month to a maximum of $30,000. That’s a hugely generous offer, but the M.H. Brigham Foundation and our anonymous donor understand that while Ontario meanders down the wrong path, the climate clock is ticking. They believe in OCAA’s ability to drive change. As you know, most people thought we couldn’t win the battle to phase out dirty coal power, but we did!

Please stand with us – and them – by making a donation toward a prosperous renewable energy future for Ontario today.

Thank you in advance – your donations, large and small, keep our doors open!
